ENEMY SITUATION AT END OF PERIOD.

ENEMY OPERATIONS DURING PERIOD.
a. General Summary: Enemy continued to defend.
Activity decreased from previous period. Improvement of defense in
left portion of Division sector continued.
b. Operations of Component Elements:
(1) Air: Incendiary bomb dropped by P-47 at Q461586 at
1710A 13 Feb; enemy fighter plane flew over front line in center
of Division sector at 1440A.
(2) Anti-Aircraft: 2 P-47's shot down 8-10 miles N of Le
HARDTWALD Q4562.
(3) Artillery: Decreased from previous period. Total known
rounds - 24; all 88- and 105-mm. Bulk of fire fell in central part
of Division sector.
(4) Infantry: Less active than in previous period. Small
groups moved about at scattered points along the front. One
hundred enemy observed moving into ETZLING Q4364 from W fired on
by our artillery. Small amount of MG fire on forward elements
during night. Total number of known mortar rounds - 15, all in
left portion of Division sector.
(5) Other: Bridge at Q485667 reported demolished by
artillery fire.

MISCELLANEOUS.
a. PW's captured:
Total PW's captured by regiments of 70th Div to dated - None -
(includes TF HERREN to 2 Feb 45 - 1020)
b. Weather Forcast:
15 Feb 45: No rain expected during period. Light haze from
after midnight, becoming light fog after sunrise, with visibility
lowering to 1 -2 miles in fog. Fog will disappear rapidly and by
1000 visibility will improve to 5 - 7 miles. Maximum temperature
52º; minimum temperature 34º.
16 Feb 45: Visibility 4 - 6 miles all day. Rain will begin
about 1800 and visibility will lower to 2 - 4 miles in rain.
Minimum temperature will be 40º and temperature will be in high
40's during day.
