a. 274th: 1st Bn attached to 45th Div. 2nd
Bn attacked with units of 276th 060800 Jan on Wingen. Enemy
counter-attacked at dark. Drove about halfway through town. 2nd Bn
again drove enemy from town at dark. 1 platoon was on east edge of
town and patrolling high ground, remainder of Bn on high ground SW
of Wingen. 3rd Bn improved positions around Rothbach. Patrolling
area between 3rd Bn 274th and 2nd Bn 276th.
b. 276th: Co. K and elements of Co. M
continued to hold the line VOLKSBERG-ROSTEIG. 2nd Bn continued to
hold positions (Hill 340) east of Wimmenau. Loaned to 313th Inf.
at 1400. Moved to vicinity of Lichtenberg. 1st Bn and elements of
3rd Bn attached to 2nd Bn 274th, aided in the attack on Wingen.
c. Field Artillery: 160th FA Bn: Fire
missions and direct support of 276th. Cn Company 276th tied in the
160th. Supported attack on Wingen. 501st Armored FA Bn: In support
of 274th.

e. Armored: 781st Tk Bn: Co B continued to
support 2nd Bn 274th Inf in mopping up Wingen. Co C attached to
274th not employed. Co D (-) CP Guard.
6. COMBAT EFFICIENCY: Satisfactory
7. RESULTS OF OPERATION: Attack on Wingen
started 0800. Heavy fighting continued all day. TF HERREN in control
of most of town. 2nd Bn 276th moved to vicinity Lichtenberg under
control of 313th Inf.
