By Command Sgt. Major (Ret.) Bill Scott
Members of the 70th Infantry
Division Assn have established the 70th IDA Scholarship Fund in support of all
members of the Association. The scholarships are designed to honor those who
have served under the colors of the 70th Infantry Division, especially those who
have lost their lives during any U.S. military operation. Descendants and
spouses of those who are currently serving or who have served under the colors
of the 70th Infantry Division are eligible and must be under 25 years of age.
Four awards of $500.00 each, which can be used for room and board, graduate and
undergraduate tuition, library fees, textbooks or other instructional material,
are available. Scholarship winners must maintain a "B" average and carry the
prescribed number of credit hours at their school, but may earn up to three
additional awards. To reapply all that is
required is a biography of the applicants last year’s achievements and
highlights along with a copy for their college transcripts.
To receive an application packet with full details, contact CSM (Ret) Bill
Scott, at 394 N W 170th Drive, Beaverton, Oregon 97006. Completed applications
must be submitted by August 30 for the following school year. A committee of
70th Infantry Division Association members will select recipients prior to the
start of the fall term.

Command and is currently chairman of the 70th Infantry Division Scholarship
Committee.)
