I - AWARD OF THE PURPLE HEART - Under the provisions of AR 600-45, 22 September 1943, as amended, the Purple Heart is awarded to the following individual for wounds received in action on 23 February 1945, in Germany:

ROY H. BARVELS, 37595359, Private First Class, Company C,       Engineer Combat Battalion. Entered Military Service from Fairmont, Minnesota.
