  0100 6   S-3 called CO 2d Bn and Stop Co G from moving in on hill Co G under Col Morgan (Wriggle)  
    7 0200 Blue 3 departed CP  
    8 0200 Lt Stoltz departed CP for Hq TF Herren  
0430   9 0300 Msg from CO 2d Bn and 2d Bn will need following No. vehicles to complete movement orders. 33 per carriers to Puberg on 2 hrs notice. S-3, Div notified to have trks ready.
  0430 10   S-2 called 3d Bn S-3 and one rifle Co and Mg Plat to Rothback. Transportation by Cn Co Plat vehicles.  
    11 0830 Regtl Aid Station 1 block from CP and 619th Clearing Co at Saverne and 392d Collecting Co at Nieuwiller. 27th Evacuating Hosp at Saarberg S
0840   12   Call from Pers O on M/R, located in Div rear. S-1
0846   13 0300 Phone call from Co 3d Bn, Question: What was enemy situation at Rothbach, reluctant to send outfit in W/o knowledge of situation. What were limiting pts of MLR of 3d Bn sector. Div Regtl orders state "Defend and organize your sector. 3d Bn sector not defined clearly what is on right of Bn? of Regt.  
0850   14   Line out to 2d Bn and can not reach thru Wriggle, 0850.  
  0850 15 0305 Dy Off phoned Div, Capt Lucky answd: Enemy situation in vicinity of Rothbach unknown. Order to put troops around north of town was from Corps.  
    16 0310 Dy Off called 313th Inf Hq (Bingo) now located in city of Rothbach. Dy Off there stated hills around town were clear of enemy.  
0855   17 0315 Dy Off called CO 3d Bn and gave msg from 313th Inf.  
    18 0330 Capt lucky called and stated 3d Bn had contacted "Power" in re to same questions and that "Power" had called quite concerned over fact that nothing had been sent to secure town of Rothbach.  
  0910 19   Ex O ordered thru 1st Sgt Sv Co a complete rpt on 2 1/2 ton trks as of 1000, 5 Jan 45. Where are all 65 trks.  
  0915 20 0335 Dy Off called 3d Bn and found that they were attempting to get trks from Cn Co to get one rifle Co and HW Co to Rothbach, Dy Off gave permission to use 6 trks from Cn Co, at 0500 movement underway.  
    21 0300 Msg from 2d Bn wanting 33 trks to motorize Bn Dy Off called Capt Lucky and asked for 20 trks to be available on call.
    22 0700 3d Bn S-4 arrived CP to ask about rations. Rations detail had not reptd with rations.  
    23 0500 Wriggle 5 called that no contact made with Co G, explained Co G under 276 Comd and they knew nothing of it. Stated atk would go on and they would look for Co G.  
    24 0700 Phone call thru long distance from 1st Bn asking where could pick up kitchens. Dy Off informed 1st Bn to pick up ki at Neuwiller
    25   Ex O phoned G-4 and left msg for G-4 with clerk. "Very much concerned about trk situation, I want to know if Capt Smith was able to handle msg from "RED" Bn relative to ki trks as discussed with Capt yesterday." 1045   30   Phone call from CO 3d Bn – was in position at daylight, patrols inoperation, AT in position – Ln Off in contact with Regt in front. Advance CP off other Regt.  
1055   31   Contact with 2d Bn thru Wriggle now possible 1055  
    32 1057 Off 781 Tk Co reptd to CP Talked with Ex O
    33 1057 CO departed for Ingwiller at 1057, probably will return before 1400.  
    34 1114 Lt Lambrecht arrived CP at 1114, related situation with 1st Bn, now atchd 276. Talked with Ex O
    35 1125 S-4, Ass’t S-4 and SSO arrived CP  
1145   36   Ltr giving password for 4 Jan burned.  
  1150 37   S-4 phoned G-4 and received following info – ki will be under Regtl control Div will pick up Class 2 supplies and deliver them. Div desires a telephone rept to be made to them daily on status of transportation.  
    38 1205 Regtl Motor Off arrived Cp  
    39 1210 Ki’s release to Regtl control.  
    40 1240 Ex Off left CP for VQ  
    41 1240 Lt Parsons returned to CP  
1300   42   Rec’d following communications: Ltr Hq TF Herren “Corrections Forms 52d MD; S-3 Rept 69th Armd FA; G-3 Periodic Rept. No. 9 S-3

1205   48   2d Bn expects to stay in Puberg today. (CO 2d Bn)  
1200   49   From CO 3d Bn – 2 rifles squads and 1 mortar squad of Co L supporting 313th Inf.  
1200   50   1 Plat of Co I sent in place of 2 squads to repel attack.  
1435   51   No phone contact with white, Blue or Wyandot, temporary  
1140   52 1101 Msg from CO 3d Bn – request that Ki remain under Regtl control. Request supper today be ready at release pt at 1545 breakfast and dinner on 6th at 0545. Supper on 6th 1545. Ex Off and S-4
    53   Prev msg cont’d – Suggest that dinner meal for this unit be in two or three marmit cans and company breakfast water will be drunk for dinner meal, mess trk will remain in Bn area from breakfast throughout dinner then returned cans for supper.  
1440   54 1107 Msg from CO 3d Bn request ammunition vehicle be released to Bn EX O “No”
1440   55 1109 Msg from CO 3d Bn requesting 2/3 K ration be issued to this Bn as emergency ration Ex O, S-4
    56 1445 Asst S-2 arrived CP  
    57 1450 Lt Funk and Lt Parsons departed CP to go to Puberg, 2d Bn, 45th Div and 3d Bn.  
    58 1500 S-1 arrived at CP
