reserve and where is outpost line. Patrolling at all times is
what they want. Break tank company down into platoons with Bns.
Coprs said "Don't do it." Corps said no flanks. Coordinates of
new location (84.8-34.1) 3d Bn CP changing at 2000. Wire is in
new place. POWER 3 gave direct orders cutting 2 eschelons of
command. "Put 2 companies in hills and one in reserve. No flank
patrols at all'. Col. Landstrom reported:-one rifle plat. Co. L
captured 11 prisoners several MG. No casualties (82.8-36.6). Co.
L plat. Digging in and will remain as detached OP. Small enemy
forces on high ground (82.2-36.7) at 1630. Enemy auto weapons
firing on our tanks from draws (82.2-37.2) MG location
(83.0-37.2). Has arty liason with him. Area in vicinity of
(82.3-33.3) booby trapped. G-3 Corps called Col. Landstrom 1400
today. He wanted 3d Bn in one spot only. Which was done.
Cancelled orders G-3. POWER wanted whole Bn in reserve held in
ROHRBACH and not to worry about anything else. 3 said no sector,
just point. 3 said order was issued 2 days ago and was mad and
wanted to know why Col. Landstrom was not there earlier. |
