INTELLIGENCE ANNEX
The German troops in the area of the raid were from the
880th Regiment of the 347th Infantry Division. The counter-attacks
against the raid on the first day were carried out solely by troops
from the reserve of the 347th Infantry Division. However, on the
second day, additional troops and artillery were rushed to this
sector of the German Force. A company of officer candidates from
Saarbrucken, and some self-propelled guns and tanks from the 17th SS
Panzer Grenadier Division and spearheaded the attacking force of the
347th
Division on the second day. It was this attack which succeeded in
penetrating the positions on "F" Company's flank.

Autumn 1944: Engaged in Eastern France
January 1945: On western Front, Saar area.
