Dan Gier, son of Lawrence Gier,
sent me a copy of the "Medium Report", a paper published by and for
the 725th FA Bn. It is dated July 4th 1945. Below is a list of
places and a map showing the travels of the Battalion while in
Europe. The map is from a xerox copy.

Marseilles - The 725th Field
Artillery Battalion disembarked at the Port of Marseilles at about
1530, 18 January 1945.
Delta Base Section Camp - Proceeded
to staging area on January 18 which we left on February 2, 1945.
St. Rambert - First stop on the way
to Henriville, France, our first combat position.
Dijon - Night of February 3rd to
morning of February 4th.
Epinal - Received locations of our
combat positions here on the night of February 4th. Left Epinal
February 5th and arrived at our frontline position at -
Henriville - on the 6th February.
First rounds of combat fire here. Remained here until movement on
Feb. 15 to -
Diebling, France - remained here
until 22 Feb.
Buschbach, France - Fired many
rounds to liberate Forbach and capture the city of Saarbrucken from
Feb. 23 to March 19.
Gersweiler, Germany - Remained in
this suburb of Saarbrucken from March 20 to March 24. Our first stay
in Germany.
Hütchenhausen, Germany - Occupied
and governed this small town from March 25 to March 30th. Reserve of
7th Army.
Hargensheim, Germany - Controlled
and occupied this town from March 31 to April 11. 3rd Army Reserve.
Flonsheim, Germany - Controlled and
operated Prisoner of War Camp containing 30,000 prisoners from April
12 to April 18. 3rd Army Reserve.
Assenheim, Germany - Command Post
set up in the castle of Solms-Rödelheim from April 19 to May 3.
Guarded many military installations. 3rd Army Reserve.
Münnerstadt, Germany - Guarded
Military installations and governed number of surrounding towns from
May 4 to May 9. 3rd Army Reserve.
Schluctern, Germany - Exercised
government and guarded installations such as bridges etc., from May
4 to May 9. 3rd Army Reserve.
Bad Soden, Germany - Guarded
important railroad and other installations from May 12 to May 29.
9th Army Reserve.
Bad Orb, Germany - Organized and
operated Prisoner of War Discharge Camp from May 30 to present. 7th
Army Reserve.
